Elephant Facts

The elephant is the largest animal that lives on land. Some male elephants can grow to be thirteen feet tall. That’s more than twice as tall as many human adults. They have tusks—long teeth made of ivory—that help them get food and carry heavy objects. Elephants eat grass, small branches, and bark from trees. They especially like leaves from the top branches.

Elephants cry, play, and have wonderful memories. Elephants are sensitive animals where if a baby complains, the entire family will gather and go over to touch and caress it.

Asian elephant has smaller ears but bigger heads than the African variety. Thais like to say they don’t hear as well but are smarter.
