Mango Facts
The mango is known as the ‘king of fruit’ throughout the world. Mangos originated in East India, Burma and the Andaman Islands bordering the Bay of Bengal. June is peak season through August. The prime reason for the popularity of this fruit is none other than its unique flavor.
Unripe mangoes taste sour and contain starch. When a mango turns sunny yellow and ripens, it tastes so sweet and delicious. Mangoes are very nutritious and good for those people who watch their diet.
Mangoes contain an enzyme with digestive properties similar to the ones found in papaya – which also makes them a very good tenderizing agent. Mangoes contain beta carotene, which the body converts to Vitamin A.
